Our Team

Robert Nelson – Founder

Robert has been building homes since 1969 and founded Robert Nelson Construction in 1977. He builds custom homes, commercial buildings, retirement units, multi-unit housing, and develops land for residential housing and commercial office space. You can find many local landmarks built by Robert Nelson across the valley including the Salem Post Office, the Doctors Complex at 39 North Professional Way in Payson, the Crisp’s Grocery Store in Salem, and the well-known custom home above Salem Pond that is depicted in his Company Logo. He is currently a State Director for The Utah Home Builders Association. “Honesty and “Integrity” are not just buzz words for Robert, but an integral part of his business.

Matt Nelson – Supervisor

As a Home Construction Supervisor, Matt’s responsibilities include estimating, bidding, and overseeing all phases of home construction. Matt has worked along side Robert since he was a youngster, beginning as a laborer and apprentice to his father. He has worked as a carpenter, estimator, draftsman, and carpenter foreman. Because of his early start in his career, Matt has a depth of knowledge and experience in both commercial and residential markets. He has a strong work ethic that is balanced by a pleasant and courteous demeanor. Putting the needs and desires of his client first seems to come naturally for Matt.

Darrell Thomas – Supervisor

Darrell has built more than 300 homes, many which have won awards in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. He works at the job site 8 to 10 hours a day and supervises all aspects of construction. He is very knowledgeable and enjoys helping clients create their custom-built home. Darrell began his career in 1984 and joined Robert Nelson Construction in 1992. He always pours the footings, does all the exterior concrete, and often frames and roofs the homes he builds.
